Carrabassett Valley, Maine--Tom Hanson is the Treasuer of the Ski Museum of Maine. He is turning his skiing into a fundraiser.  He plans to ski three million vertical feet and will use an app to measure his effort.

BRYANT POND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Winter time can mean old fashioned fun.  Perhaps no one is having more of it than Phil Smith who is refurbishing a 1914 Aero Sled, which looks like an air boat on skis.

Nove Mesto, Czechoslovakia (NEWS CENTER)-- Russell Currier of New Sweden, Maine finished sixth in a World Cup Biathlon. It is a break out for the twenty five year old Currier and the Maine Winter Sports Center which began training Maine kids in the sport fifteen years ago.

RUMFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Jessie Diggins of the U. S. Ski Team put on the greatest show at the National Cross Country Ski Championships in Rumford. More than a dozen Mainers turned in respectable perfromance on the national stage.

NEW GLOUCESTER, ME (NEWS CENTER)-- A 21-year-old New Gloucester woman has made the U. S. Development Team in the sport of Skeleton.  Skeleton is a sledding event which is held on a bobsled run.  Sherri Emery must travel to Lake Placid, New York to compete.

JACKMAN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The small town of Jackman welcomed home an American hero on Thursday.  Staff Sergeant Timothy Gilboe was awarded the Silver Star for valor in Afghanistan.

Falmouth, ME (NEWS CENTER)-- Tipping is important at Christmas time in Maine.  That's because tipping is the process of collecting greens that are used in the making of Christmas wreaths, kissing balls and garlands.
